Won't You Be My Neighbor? is the curriculum we've chosen for VBS this summer. It's full of fun, fellowship, faith formation and friendly neighboring (along with Mr. Rogers vibes)! But we're flipping the script on VBS and experimenting with a new model. Wednesday evening from 5:30-7 p.m., we'll be hosting an intergenerational potluck for EVERYONE in Wesley Hall! The theme that night is "Welcome to the Neighborhood," and in addition to light programming around the art of neighboring well, it will serve as the official welcome potluck for Pastor Jacob Lynn and his family. This is an event for the entire church family (and our neighbors). We can't wait to see y'all there! Then on Thursday, we'll host a more traditional-looking VBS day from 10 a.m.-3 p.m. in our youth building. The day will feature 2 full rotation schedules with lunch provided in between. We'll also have snacks available both in the morning and in the afternoon. The morning rotations will feature the story of Jacob & Esau reuniting, plus music and movement, fun crafts, STEM play and recreation. During lunch, we'll hear a story of Jesus asking Peter to take care of and love all the people Jesus loved...plus a bit of awesome music. The afternoon rotations will feature the story of the Good Samaritan, plus music and movement, fun crafts, STEM play and recreation. Along the way, we'll learn that we're all part of God's awesome neighborhood, where strangers become friends and all friends know they are fully known and loved just the way they are! Then, on Friday night, we're offering a "Grownups' Night Out" (neighborhood movie night for the kiddos) from 5:30-8:30 p.m. in Wesley Hall. We'll have pizza and bevvys, plus movie snacks and a movie that highlights some of the characteristics we learned about during VBS (kindness, welcoming and being a good neighbor). That night's schedule is pretty loose, but the movie will begin promptly at 6 p.m., and we'll have some of our recreation equipment available for after the movie. Drop off can happen anytime from 5:30-6 p.m., and pick-up is anytime.
